In creative work, we will fail. But there may many reasons for that. And many times, we may (wrongly) take this failure as an indication of our own inherent weakness or lacking.

Yet, this is never the case. And regardless of the reason for the failure, the solution is always the same… to try again.

We may try in various different ways (corresponding to the way we failed), but the idea is to iterate, iterate everything, again and again… to learn from the failure itself.

And to never accept this momentary setback as a reflection of our own self-worth or identity. I hope, we may instead see ourselves as the striver, once again, trying to overcome.

PS: In fact, this post is an example of iterating again on a bad idea. At first, it was just a few words "to try again"... before inspiration struck a few days later and upon revisiting, the words above came to me. I'm much happier with the words above, but I don't point this out to say it is special... rather to say that it is a normal part of the creative process. And most of my writings are recycled... updates on... the latest attempt at expressing some universal principle of creative work. I think that is all we can do... to simply try our best, with the resources that we have currently.P
